Did Glenside Hospital in Adelaide have their own ambulance .
Yes, from 1929 until February 1968 when the ambulance pictured was retired and not replaced. Thereafter ambulance services were provided at cost by first the St John’s Ambulance Service until that service was replaced by SA Ambulance Services which is still the case currently. The Health Department pays SA Ambulance which is another government department, a six figure sum each year for this service at the top rate per unit of service.
